Accelerated Freefall (AFF) Program

Your Journey to Solo Skydiving Begins Here

The Accelerated Freefall (AFF) program at SkyDive USA is a comprehensive, hands-on training course designed to transform you from a complete novice into a confident, licensed skydiver. Our program adheres to the highest safety standards and is taught by experienced, certified instructors dedicated to your success and safety. You'll learn everything from basic body control in freefall to canopy piloting and landing techniques.

Unlike tandem skydiving where you are attached to an instructor, AFF allows you to experience the thrill of freefall with your own parachute system from your very first jump. Two instructors will accompany you, holding on to your harness to provide stability and guidance, gradually releasing you as you demonstrate proficiency.

Detailed Curriculum Breakdown

Our AFF program is meticulously structured into several stages, each building upon the last to ensure a thorough understanding and mastery of skydiving skills.

  • Ground School: Intensive theoretical training covering equipment, freefall techniques, canopy control, emergency procedures, and landing.
  • Category A (Level 1-3): Introduction to freefall with two instructors. Focus on stable body position, altitude awareness, and parachute deployment.
  • Category B (Level 4-5): Transition to one instructor. Learning basic turns, forward movement, and controlled freefall maneuvers.
  • Category C (Level 6-7): Solo freefall with instructor coaching from a distance. Advanced maneuvers, dive exits, and gaining independence.
  • Consolidation Jumps: After completing the AFF levels, you'll perform several solo jumps to refine your skills and gain experience before applying for your A-license.

What You Will Achieve

Upon successful completion of the AFF program and subsequent consolidation jumps, you will possess the skills and knowledge to jump solo and pursue your A-license, opening up a world of skydiving possibilities.

  • Master stable freefall body position and altitude awareness.
  • Confidently deploy your main parachute and handle emergency procedures.
  • Execute controlled turns, forward movement, and other freefall maneuvers.

Comprehensive Ground School

Before you ever step foot on an aircraft with a parachute on your back, you'll undergo our comprehensive Ground School. This intensive theoretical training is the cornerstone of your skydiving education, providing you with the essential knowledge and understanding required for safe and confident skydiving. Our experienced instructors will guide you through every critical aspect of the sport.

Topics Covered in Detail:

  • Equipment Knowledge: Learn about the components of a parachute system, how they function, proper packing techniques (demonstration), and pre-jump equipment checks. Understanding your gear is paramount to safety.
  • Aircraft Procedures: From boarding to exit, you'll learn about safe conduct in and around the aircraft, proper exit techniques for various jump types, and communication with the pilot.
  • Freefall Body Position: Master the arch position, which is fundamental for stability in freefall. We'll cover various body adjustments for movement, turns, and stability control.
  • Altitude Awareness & Deployment: Crucial training on how to monitor your altitude, recognize deployment altitudes, and execute a flawless parachute deployment.
  • Canopy Piloting Skills: Learn the principles of canopy flight, steering, obstacle avoidance, and how to set up for a safe and accurate landing.
  • Emergency Procedures: This is a critical component. You'll be thoroughly trained on how to identify and react to various malfunctions, including cutaway procedures and deploying your reserve parachute. Extensive practice with emergency handles is included.
  • Landing Techniques: Learn how to perform a controlled flare and stand-up landing, minimizing risk upon return to earth.
  • Skydiving Rules & Regulations: Understand the basic rules of the sport, traffic patterns, and general safety guidelines established by skydiving associations.

Our Ground School typically runs for a full day (approximately 6-8 hours), combining classroom instruction with practical drills and simulated scenarios. This immersive experience ensures you are well-prepared and confident for your first AFF jump.
